Chandrayaan-3 shares first pictures of Moon captured during lunar descent

The Chandrayaan-3 made a successful soft landing on the surface of the Moon, a little after 6 pm on August 23, making India the first country to reach course to the lunar south pole.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been sharing updates following the lunar landing. The latest images show the lunar surface captured by the Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera taken during the descent.

Along with the images, ISRO noted that it had established the communication link between the Chandrayaan-3 lander and the MOX-ISTRAC in Bengaluru.

This is the first update shared by Vikram lander upon touchdown on the Moon's south pole surface.
