CSK beat GT to lift record-equalling 5th IPL title

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) equalled Mumbai Indians' (MI) record of five Indian Premier League (IPL) after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's triumphed in a last-ball thriller, beating defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It was an emotional moment for fans all across the world as they saw Dhoni-led CSK all the way in what was seen as his last match in the tournament's history. Post the win, he once again hinted that he could be back for yet another season of IPL.

"Circumstantially, if you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say 'Thank you very much', but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL," MS Dhoni said in the post-match presentation to Harsha Bhogle.

After CSK's win the entire stadium was in joy, with a spectacular fireworks display. Chasing a rain-curtailed 171-run target in 15 overs, CSK needed 10 runs to win off the last two balls and Ravindra Jadeja sealed the memorable title victory.
