Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Modak, kheer & more prasad offerings to Lord Ganesha
The ten-day Hindu festival to honour Lord Ganesha's birthday, Ganesh Chaturthi is finally here. This year, the auspicious festival started on September 19 and will continue till September 28. No Indian festival is completed without delicious food offerings. While modaks are popularly prepared during Vinayaka Chathurthi, here are other prasad recipes that are offered to Bappa to grace the festival.
Lord Ganesha's favourite, modak is the highlight of this festival. The sweet delight is offered as a special prasad during prayers and rituals dedicated to him. Plus, there are different kinds of modak recipes that make the celebration even more special.
These crispy and delicious modaks are a must on the occasion of Ganesha's birth anniversary. The outer layer is crispy, made with wheat flour and filled with a sweet stuffing of coconut, jaggery, sesame seeds and cardamom.
A traditional Maharashtrian sweet dish, satori can be offered as bhog during Ganesh Chaturthi. The dish is a flaky and sweet pastry-like texture filled with a mixture of gram flour, ghee and sugar.
