
Rani Lakshmibai, queen consort of Jhansi (1843-1853), was a pivotal leader in the 1857 Indian Rebellion and symbolised resistance against British colonialism for Indians.

Sucheta Kripalani, active in the Quit India Movement, worked with Gandhi and was a Constituent Assembly member. As Uttar Pradesh's first female CM, she sang "Vande Mataram" before Nehru's "Tryst with Destiny".

Aruna Asaf Ali, an Indian educator and activist, famously hoisted the national flag during the 1942 Quit India Movement. Post-independence, she became Delhi's inaugural Mayor.

Sarojini Naidu, Indian poet and activist, was pivotal in the independence movement and promoted civil rights. She was the Indian National Congress's first female president and Uttar Pradesh's governor.
