World Vegetarian Day 2023: Benefits of a vegetarian diet
Every year on October 1, World Vegetarian Day is observed to spread awareness around the benefits of vegetarianism and how it plays an important role in shrinking the environmental footprint.
Many celebrities have ditched the non-vegetarian diet and embraced veganism or vegetarianism. Sir Paul McCartney, Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Kristen Bell, Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aamir Khan, Sonam Kapoor and more switched to a vegetarian diet.
There are a lot of advantages of a meat-less diet. A vegetarian meal offers heart-healthy benefits due to foods that are higher in fiber and unsaturated fats. Both these nutrients help manage the body's cholesterol.
Over the years, studies have shown that a vegetarian diet contributes to a maximised lifespan. When you eat vegetables or fruits, you build up lesser chemicals and toxins in your body, which facilitates a longer lifespan and healthy years.
