From being a showstopper at fashion shows to hosting the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards with Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan, Pantaloons Femina Miss India International 2011 Ankita Shorey has come a long way from winning the prestigious beauty pageant at 18. Now at 27, Ankita Shorey is giving young actresses a run for their money with her jaw-dropping transformation. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Ankita Shorey revealed that she had battled multiple health conditions and came out as a winner in her journey towards health and fitness. The beauty queen, who was wheelchair bound for 6 months, had developed a severe infection in the lower part of her body. In fact, her doctor contemplated cutting off her leg. However, heavy medication and steroids took a toll on her body, which resulted in change of appearance and severe weight gain. Later, the beauty queen was also diagnosed with lupus. It took almost 3 to 4 years for Ankita Shorey to get back in shape and eventually reverse her condition. Today, Ankita swears by a gluten/dairy-free diet and does regular yoga and Pilates. Ankita Shorey says that people, who starve themselves, regain weight very quickly. This often leads to several mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Thus, all one needs is to adopt a healthy lifestyle and follow smart eating habits to remain fit.
