FIFA Women's World Cup 2023: Sweden defeat Italy 5-0 to reach knockout stage, see pictures

Following an impressive 1-0 win against Argentina, Italy were disappointed with how things turned out at the match against Sweden. The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup saw Sweden in an amazing victory over Italy in a Group G rout at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand. With the win, the Swedes booked their spot in the Women's World Cup knockout stage along with a match to spare. Amanda Ilestedt stole the show scoring two goals in quick succession. The floodgates opened as Fridolina Rolfo and Stina Blackstenius added to the tally within seven minutes, leaving Italy reeling. The rout was complete when substitute Rebecka Blomqvist confidently sealed the victory. Italy will next face in the Group G fixture against South Africa on August 2, 2023.
