World No 2 Rafael Nadal has proved his mettle once again as he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final match of US Open 2019. 33-year-old Nadal battled the Russian player for nearly five hours, which makes it the second-longest US Open final match in history. The nail-biting match ended in Nadal's victory as he defeated the 23-year-old 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4. After the match, an elated Nadal spoke to reporters, he said, "I was dominating the match until the third set but then Daniil decided to play super aggressive. He is so good. He is able to play in different ways. It was a match where anything could happen at the end. I was nervous, I was tired but in my mind, I go — resist, resist a little more. I always believe that in the end, I'm going to have my chance. Tonight's match was very emotional, having a victory in this amazing stadium." With this massive win, Rafael Nadal has earned his fourth US Open title and 19th Grand Slam. He is one Grand slam away to equalise his count with tennis star Roger Federer. (Photos: Instagram)
